Speech Class Rules

An Introduction to Speech Therapy for Children

Created with the vision of educating everyone about speech therapy, this book is being used to introduce the concept of therapy to children recently diagnosed, provide a story and characters that children already in speech can relate to, and help parents, educators, and peers understand what speech and language disorders are all about.

Speech Class Rules is set in an elementary school, but is appropriate for any speech therapy setting. A light-hearted story lends insight into the semantic, syntactic, phonological, pragmatic, fluency and voice disorders that affect approximately 10% of all children in the United States. The entertaining story is complimented by the language rich illustrations.

When The World Slowed Down

How We Were Reminded That We Are All Connected

The worldwide pandemic that began in the spring of 2020 affected everyone, but especially impacted children. Much like my first book, Speech Class Rules, this story was created out of a need I saw for children - to understand and process the pandemic, and to take something positive away from it all.

Our youngest children don't remember much about the pandemic. Our older ones are still making sense of it and dealing with the repercussions. When the World Slowed Down - How We Were Reminded That We Are All Connected is for all of them. It offers families at home and classrooms in schools alike:

  • An account of this unique event in history
  • Book opportunities for readers to share and discuss THEIR experiences
  • One of the most important lessons we can ALL take with us

We've included an extra special surprise with this hardcover first edition of When the World Slowed Down - the dust jacket opens up and reverses to become a poster for classrooms or homes. It serves as a wonderful reminder of 20 Ways to Slow Down When Life Gets Hectic and Hurried.
